Ezer Kenegdo

Do you know about the term Ezer Kenegdo in the Bible

It is the term used in the Bible in Genesis 2:18 for women as suitable helper.

In the Indian context a helper is generally a house help or maid someone of lower status.
But the Bible mentions Ezer as in EbenEZer as the God who helped Israel. Ezer is a term often mentioned in reference to God. “There is none like the God of Jeshurun, The Rider of the Heavens in your strength (`-z-r), and on the clouds in his majesty.” (Deut. 33:26,)

“Blessed are you, O Israel! Who is like you, a people saved by the Lord? He is the shield of your strength (`-z-r) and the sword of your majesty.” (Deut. 33:29). The word ezer is used only 20 other places in the entire Old Testament. And in every other instance the person being described is God who helps.

God is your only hope. Your ezer.

Then in that case we can be sure that `ezer means “strength” or “power”, the life saver who provides life through food, emotional stability and pro creation. Therefore, could we conclude that Genesis 2:18 be translated as “I will make a power [or strength] corresponding to man.

That longing in the heart of a woman to share life together as a great adventure comes straight from the heart of God, who also longs for this. Eve is essential. She has an irreplaceable role to play. What God had intended, then, was to make a “power” or “strength” for the man who would in every way “correspond to him” or even “be his equal.”” To Be the bone of his bones and the flesh of his flesh.
