Jus’ Let Go and Let God

Many a times when we make a mistake, we try to handle the consequences and end up making more mistakes. Instead if we are able to let God handle it for us, we will be safe. Here are a few things we should do to make sure we fulfil the God given destiny in our lives and live out the life God has in store for us.
Abraham was called the ‘Father of Faith’, but the things he did are nowhere close to holding that title called the ‘ Father of Faith’ .

God promised him a son through his wife Sarah but He did not believe God and he made one of the greatest and worst messes in history upto this day. He brought forth Ishmael through Hagar. He must have thought he was helping God fulfil His promises. Abraham failed miserably when he chose to hear the voice of his wife instead of waiting on God. He messed up big time.
A time came when the very woman who told him to have a son through other means, now wanted the child gone. Abraham knew it was his mistake and he did not know what to do.
We read in Genesis chapter 21:11 that , “This troubled Abraham very much because Ishmael was also his son.”

Many a times even when we sin we don’t see the consequences. We act on the impulse of the moment. The same thing that causes us pleasure, will cause pain. Sin , disobedience to God, will trouble us deeply. The consequences of sin will bother us.

Now again God speaks to Abraham. What a wonderful God we worship! Abraham is troubled but is not talking or praying to God but God intervenes and tells him the solution for his problem.

We read in Genesis 21:12,”But God said to Abraham, “Don’t be troubled about the boy and the slave woman. Do whatever Sarah tells you. The descendants I promised you will be from Isaac.”

This time Abraham chooses to obey God immediately. He decides that he will no longer disobey God. Here are the things we learn from the life of Abraham about how to deal with sin.

BURN THE BRIDGES

Genesis 21:14 “Early the next morning Abraham took some food and a leather bag full of water. He gave them to Hagar and sent her away. Carrying these things and her son, Hagar went and wandered in the desert of Beersheba.”

Don’t think twice. When God speaks, do it immediately. Early the next morning Abraham sent Hagar away. Abraham was not sympathetic towards the sin he had allowed without God’s will in his life. He did not worry about the consequences. He sent out the traces ,the memories ,and the fruit of his disobedience. He just obeyed God and let go.

Often, we try to be sympathetic towards the sin we commit. We feel guilty and try to carry the consequences. The word of God says in I John 3:20, “When our hearts make us feel guilty, we can still have peace before God. God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. Even when we feel guilty, God is greater than our feelings.

Most times When we know we have sinned we ask God for forgiveness but we never fully let go of the sin. We want God to bless us along with our sin.

Just let go into God’s hands. He is faithful and righteous. He was also the ‘God of Hagar’. He knew how to take care of her. God did not forsake her. Genesis 21: 20 “God was with the boy as he grew up. Ishmael lived in the desert and became an archer.”

Don’t let your sin trap you in your past and sabotage the plans God has for your future. Let go, and let God deal with the consequences of your sin. Don’t keep on worrying about the sin. Don’t think,” Oh no, I caused the problem. Now I am responsible. Now I cannot let go of the sin”. Get out of the sin right away. Even up to this day God has blessed the descendants of Ishmael. He is Faithful and just. Keep following his voice.

MOVE ON

Yes we have made mistakes, but once we have repented and burnt the bridges it is time to ‘Move on’.

Don’t keep dwelling in your past. ( Isaiah 43:18). Don’t get into a pity party and be depressed. Behold God is ready to clean up your mess and help you start all over again. In the same chapter we read about a king who came to Abraham and told him“God is with you in everything you do.”‭‭Genesis‬ ‭21:22‬ ‭NCV‬‬.

God is able to clean up your mess. He is your parent. Just because my child makes a mistake I cannot disown my child. If earthly parents so fend for their children, how much more will our Heavenly Father stand up for us. God is still with you and has moved on to the next phase. So you should move on too.

Philippians 3:13 says “I do not mean that I am already as God wants me to be. I have not yet reached that goal, but I continue trying to reach it and to make it mine. Christ wants me to do that, which is the reason he made me his. Brothers and sisters, I know that I have not yet reached that goal, but there is one thing I always do. Forgetting the past and straining toward what is ahead”.

Yes move on into the future God has in store for you.

DON’T GIVE UP ON GOD

God has not given up on you. So do not give up on God. God wanted Abraham to be the ‘Father of Faith‘. In many occasions Abraham never behaved like he was the father of Faith. He did not trust God. He made many mistakes. He lied to the king of Egypt saying Sarah his wife was his sister, fearing for his life. It shows he did not have faith that God could protect him. Again when God told him he would have a son, he did not believe God and begot a son through Hagar. But God did not give up on Abraham. Now after a while God wanted Abraham to sacrifice Isaac his only son. God wanted to make sure Abraham became a giant in Faith. So he tested him. This time Abraham did not consult anyone. He obeyed God immediately. Abraham finally trusted God.

Hebrews 11:19 says “Abraham believed that God could raise the dead, and really, it was as if Abraham got Isaac back from death.”

‭‭We see that step by step Abraham grew in his faith. He failed many times but God never counted it against Him. He kept worshiping God and seeking God and finally he became the father of faith. God never remembered him by his failures. God remembered him for his faith, for trusting God and moving out of his country in a journey that would change mankind forever.

Even so, in the journey of life, no matter how many times you fail , don’t give up on God. Keep going back to God to ask for His forgiveness, stand up on your feet. Run back to His presence. He is in no mood of giving up on you. He will never leave you nor forsake you until He fulfils all that He has promised in your life. Jude1:24 says “God is strong and can help you not to fall. He can bring you before His glory without any wrong in you and can give you great joy. He is the only God, the One who saves us. To him be glory, greatness, power, and authority through Jesus Christ our Lord for all time past, now, and forever. Amen.”

He created you. He is your father. Don’t loose faith. You will get better. Don’t stop praying. Quickly repent and move ahead, embrace the God given destiny for your life
Just let go and let God
