I AM STILL IN HIS HANDS

Isaiah 64:8 “ Yet you LORD are our Father. We are the clay, you are the potter, we are all the work of your hand.
God is our Father, we were formed by Him. His hands took the clay and made the first human being. (Did you know that the human body consists of 14 main components that are also found in the soil? The Bible is so true!!!) Before He formed us, we were in His mind (Jer 1:5). He saw our unformed body (Ps 139: 15). He also knows the exact plans for our future (Jer 29:11). Each day of our life has already been planned even before one of them came to be. (Ps 139: 16)

God has a beautiful plan for our life in His heart. God has meticulously worked out every single detail in His perfect will for the life of each of His children. He has a clear blue print for each life. As a child of God we must discover the plan that God has for us and live it out.

We must understand that God’s perfect will for us has been designed with our best interest in mind in this life and for all eternity. It will only be better than the best design that we can ever come up with on our own. Outside His perfect will, we can still be blessed but we can never truly satisfy His heart.

BUT THE QUESTION IS HOW CAN WE KNOW HIS WILL?

The answer is simple. It is by being in His hands. If we remain in Him, He will remain in us and we can know His will. Remaining in Him means,

# To communicate with Him everyday about every single thing in our lives.

# It means to trust in the Lord alone with all our hearts and lean not on our own understanding and acknowledge Him in all our ways so that He can direct our paths. (Proverbs 3:5).

# To know His will we must hear God speak to us. We worship a God who speaks to us. He does not always speak in thundering voices from mountain tops. Many a times He speaks to us through day-to-day mundane activities. In the days of Jeremiah it was common to see potters make vessels from clay. The people those days did not have stainless steel or non-stick cookware. Most of their utensils were made of clay. So God takes Jeremiah to the potter’s house.

Lets read what God told Jeremiah ( Jer 18:1 – 6)
This is the word the Lord spoke to Jeremiah: 2 “Go down to the potter’s house, and I will give you my message there.” 3 So I went down to the potter’s house and saw him working at the potter’s wheel. 4 He was using his hands to make a pot from clay, but something went wrong with it. So he used that clay to make another pot the way he wanted it to be.5 Then the Lord spoke His word to me: 6 “Family of Israel, can’t I do the same thing with you?” says the Lord. “You are in my hands like the clay in the potter’s hands”.

God asks Jeremiah to go to a common place to speak something so profound that will be of great value even after thousands of years. In verse 4 we read that it was the hands of the master that were moulding the clay. We see that the clay was very much in the hands of the master when something went wrong with it.

Even in our lives at times when things go wrong with us, we wonder “why do things go wrong when I am in the hand of the master?”. Sometimes even when we have surrendered our lives to Him and we pray and read the word every single day, something goes wrong.

These are some of the reasons why things go wrong in our lives.

#1. Sin in our lives :

Things can go wrong in our lives when there is sin. Due to our sin sometimes God cannot accomplish what He has planned for us. But as long as we are in the hand of our master, He can still use us and make us useful in the way that He wants.

So even if you have failed God terribly and messed up your life through sin, in spite of knowing that God had a beautiful plan for you, don’t run away from Him. Go back to God and ask Him for forgiveness. Ask for His help so that you will not continue in sin. He will not throw you away. In Him there is abundant grace and forgiveness. If God asked us to forgive 70 times 7, how much more will He forgive a truly repentant heart? He will still use us, in spite of what we have done. We have a High Priest in Christ who is interceding with the Father on our behalf so that we can fulfill His purpose in our lives. He sympathizes for us. He understands that we are weak. He chooses to forgive us and bring out something beautiful from our messed up lives. But only as long as we remain in His hands.

#2.The Choices of others:
In this world our life is directly or indirectly connected with others. At times things may seem to go wrong in our lives because of the choice or decision of another person. Just because someone did not fulfill the role that they had to, so that you can accomplish God’s plan does not mean that all the plans and purposes for your life will be destroyed. As long as you are in the Master’s hands, He can still make something beautiful and much better with your lives.
Just because of someone else’s wrong decision, don’t be depressed and upset with God. Remain in His hands and just like the potter He will surely make something so amazing that all the world will see and praise Him.
Remember what the word of God says in Proverbs 16:4, “The LORD works out everything to its proper end”. And Proverbs 21:30 says, “There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD.”

Jesus said in John 15:4,” Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”

We have to abide in Him to see our life fruitful in the long run. We are not living for just this world. The world and its desires pass away, only the man who does the will of God lives forever.

You may have fallen in sin and lost all hope that your life can be a blessing again or something wrong might have happened because of others choices. May be some circumstances are hindering you from following God’s will. Don’t give up. Don’t give in. Just remain in Christ. Keep your relationship with Christ. Don’t close your Bible and walk away. Go to your Father, your Creator. Trust in Him and He will make you into a noble vessel fit for the Master’s use with great treasures inside you.

People may frown upon you saying,” You said this is God’s will for your life. Now what happened?”. Don’t be sad. Even people mocked at Jesus on the cross reminding Him that He told that he would build the temple and He would be King. But they never saw the bigger picture. They did not know about the resurrection after the grave. Entrust your life and commit yourself fully into His hand, be very flexible and watch what He can do with a life fully surrendered to Him in His loving hands.

Happy Moulding!

Be Blessed.
